Part 1 of Justin Lewet:
Justin always considered himself handsome, he was tall, about 6 feet with black hair that he likes to style into a fohawk when he can, and he has black eyes. He never had a very good life and being a demi-god didn’t make it a lot better. Justin had grown up as an orphan, never knowing his parents, and at this time in his life he had no clue who he really was or what he could do. Ever since he could remember he had been living out on the streets stealing and pillaging from shops to survive. He had also stolen purses and pick-pocketed from people to get some money to pay of other street rats and thugs that wanted to mug him for what little stuff he had.
It was on one such morning when I was scoping out who would be best to rob for a little money. His gaze settled on a tall lithe girl with black spiky hair wearing silver camo pants and a black skull and crossbones shirt with a black backpack slung on her back. She seemed weak enough and Justin thought she would be easy enough to overcome (only if he had to) and get the money he needed from her. The alley he was in is on a street that rarely has many people on it so he knew no one would see him rob this girl. As he walked up to her he couldn’t help but notice that she was pretty and kinda cute, which made him feel guilty about what he was about to do.
“Hey! I was suppose to meet a friend at 12:30 but I think I got lost, there’s suppose to be a coffee shop here.” Justin said
The girl stopped and eyed him warily, “Erm, there’s never been a coffee shop here but here, you can use my map. I have one in my bag.”
With that she took off her backpack, set it on the sidewalk, and started rummaging through it for the map she had spoken of. She found it in a matter of seconds and stood up to hand it to him. While she was looking at the map, pointing out where they were, Justin grabbed the backpack and tried to run away with it. Before he could get more than a few feet an arrow came out of nowhere and pinned him to a telephone pole that he was standing by. Justin looked back over his shoulder to see that this girl that he thought was so defenseless was now holding a shiny silver bow and a quiver was slung over one shoulder.
“Oh great,” Justin thought, “This psychotic girl is going to shoot me with a bow that came out of nowhere…”
“You have no idea who your messing with, mortal.” She said.
“Who are you, what do you mean ‘mortal’, and where did you get that bow?!” Justin asked her.
“You can see this?” She held up her bow for him to see.
“Um yeah, it’s the thing you just tried to KILL me with, how could I not see it?” Justin almost screamed.
“Well then I take back what I said about you being mortal, who is your parent?” The girl with the bow asked.
“I never knew my parents, and once again who are you?” Justin asked her, and while he asked her he tried to pull the arrow out of the pole to free himself.
“I’m Thalia daughter of Zues, and I ment your godly parent, not your mortal one.” Thalia said.
Justin stared at her, “Lady, what on earth are you smoking? You’re a daughter of Zues? Are you talking about those greek gods and stuff that supposedly lived thousands of years ago?”
“They didn’t ‘supposedly’ live thousands of years ago, they did and they’re still living today because their immortal. If immortal beings died that would just defeat the purpose. And now it’s my turn to ask, who are you?”
“I’m Justin Lewet”, Justin said, “Um, son of some other Lewets.”
“So you don’t know who your godly parent is?” Thalia asked.
“Um, no.”
“Well in that case you need to come with me, there’s only one place where people like you and me can survive.” Thalia said.
“And that place would be?” Justin asked.
“Camp Half Blood!” Thalia said with a smirk.
Part 2 of Justin Lewet:
“Why am I doing this?” Justin thought, “I’m following a psychotic maniac with a bow to some camp that no one’s ever heard of.”
Justin was following Thalia down a maze of back streets, while they were walking Thalia told him how she was a Hunter of Artemis and was sworn to never fall in love with men. Thalia also told him about some dude named Percy Jackson who had saved the world a couple times and was off saving it again as we spoke. Apparently Percy Jackson was the son of Poseidon with crazy awesome powers that allowed him to control water.
Thalia halted at the end of a closed off alley, which seemed odd to Justin.
“Why are we stopping here?” He asked with a quizzical glance.
“Because we can’t get to camp if we keep walking, duh.” Thalia said.
With that she whistled and looked up at the clouds as they floated my, suspended on air. He gave another glance at Thalia. He was thinking that she really WAS a crazy psycho maniac who had broken out of a mental hospital when all of a sudden she pointed at the sky. I followed my gaze to where she was pointing and two shapes descending towards us. At first I thought they were just birds but then I realized they were shaped like horses and seemed to be galloping across the sky. The creatures landed in the alley next to use where I was able to see them up-close and very personal. They were literally horses with wings; I mean REAL horses with REAL wings! Thalia must have noticed my jaw scraping the ground as a gaped in amazement at these two creatures.
“Their pegasi, offspring of the first Pegasus.” Thalia said.
“And they’re going to take us to this camp?” Justin asked.
“Yup.” Thalia said as she climbed on one of the pegasi.
His pegasus was beautiful, it was a silverish gray with a shiny coat and a long gray mane. He climbed on the pegasus and it jumped off the ground, soaring over the building they had just been standing by.
“Is this thing safe?!” Justin yelled to Thalia.
“Safer than walking with all the monsters!” She yelled back.
“Oh great” Justin thought; “Now I have to worry about monsters?”
They flew over the buildings of New York making their way to some camp that Justin had never heard of and he was trusting a girl he didn’t know. In the distance he saw Long Island coming up and tucked away in a hill he saw a large cluster of buildings.
“That’s Camp Half Blood.” Thalia said and pointed to the buildings.
They landed on top of a hill right outside the camp next to this big tree that a shiny blanket on one of the branches.
“Why is there a blanket on the tree?” Justin asked.
“It’s the Golden Fleece, it keeps the tree alive and helps protect the camp from monsters.” Thalia said with a look of distaste at the tree.
As they were walking into camp Justin noticed a bunch of teenage people running around, playing, and having a good time. There were half man-half goat guys running around playing with the campers, and what really stood out was the bright orange t-shirts all of the people were wearing, he wondered if he would get one too. All the people near Justin and Thalia stopped what they were doing and watched them as they walked in. Some waved and smiled, others sneered at them, but most just stood and watched Thalia as she walked next to Justin.
Out of all the people that were there (and there were hundreds) Justin only noticed one, he couldn’t help himself, he stopped and stared in amazement at her beauty. She was sitting down by a lake not very far off, contentedly staring out over the water. Justin guessed she was average height for her age, maybe 16 (like himself), she had honey-brown hair, and eyes that sparkled, he guessed they were brown, she was wearing a orange camp t-shirt like all the others with short cut-off jean shorts and a necklace of with 1 bead on it.
“Is that a goddess?” Justin asked, pointing at the girl by the lake.
Thalia looked at Justin, and then at the girl. She started laughing and said, “No, that’s Amy daughter of Zeus. She’s been here since the Titan war last year.”
“Oh.” Justin said, blushing as he realized how stupid he sounded.
As they kept walking Justin stared at this mysterious Amy and he suddenly felt determined to meet hear later that day. Still staring at her, Justin was not looking where we was going and tripped over a rock, and rolled all the way down the hill. He quickly got up, blushing furiously and noticed that Amy had seen him trip and fall which didn’t help to ease his embarrassment at all.
Thalia ran down the hill laughing, to catch up and said, “Hey watch where you’re going! Come on, you should meet Chiron. He’ll let you know all about the camp and tell you what to do.”
With that they headed off, Justin still burning with embarrassment, and Thalia smirking and trying not to laugh.
PART 3
The Big House as the campers called was one of the weirdest houses Justin had ever been to. The outside was a baby blue color, and there was a grumpy troll sitting on the porch wearing a tiger strip leotard. As Justin walked by this grumpy creature glared at him like he wanted to gut him on the spot.
“That’s Mr. D, the camp director.” Thalia said.
“Mr. D, does that stand for something? Justin asked.
“Dionysus.” She said.
“Who’s that?” He asked her quizzically.
“The god of wine. He’ll also make you go mad if you look at him wrong.” Thalia stated for mater of factly.
“I thought you said this place was safe!” He said.
All Thalia did was laugh and walk into the house, Justin didn’t want to stay outside with this angry god, so he followed her. The inside was weirder than the outside of the house, there was a ping pong table with chairs all around it. In another room Justin saw the head of a leopard mounted on the wall above a fireplace, as they walked by the head moved to look at him and growled.
“So much for safe.” Justin thought.
They walked down a hallway where Thalia led him into a room. Justin had to do a double take when he saw Chiron. He was a centaur, his horses half had a white shiny coat, his human half was lean and strong with he had a scraggly beard. He was wearing a shirt that said ‘4000 years old and still young’ and a quiver slung on his back.
“Ah, I see you found another one.” Chiron said looking at Justin.
“Yeah, he tried to steal my stuff and get away but it didn’t work out to well for him.” Thalia said.
Chiron gave a deep bellowing laugh, “I’m sure it didn’t.”
“You’re… You’re…” Justin stuttered.
“Yes, yes I’m a centaur, my boy.” Chiron said with a smile.
“So, are you like the camp security?” Justin asked still gaping at Chiron.
“No, that’s Argos’s job. I’m the trainer of demigods, and that has been my job for the past 4000 years.” Chiron said.
“Oh, doesn’t that ever get boring?” Justin inquired.
“It never gets boring, extremely depressing and sad at times but never boring.” He said, “But down to business, I’m guessing you don’t know your godly parent?”
“Nope, not yet.” Justin said, wondering if he actually had a godly parent.
“Well then I guess you’ll be staying in cabin eleven with the others, although there are very few in cabin eleven that aren’t claimed.” Chiron said.
“Oh, what’s cabin eleven, and what do you mean unclaimed?” Justin asked.
“Cabin eleven is for the children of Hermes, and unclaimed means you haven’t been claimed by your godly parent.” Chiron said, “Thalia would you show Justin to his cabin?”
“Sure, Chiron.”
Thalia led him out of the house and towards a clearing where there where a large cluster of buildings. On the way he noticed there was a volleyball court where campers were playing a game against some satyrs (that’s what Thalia said they were called). Some campers looked his way and waved but most just stayed oblivious and kept doing their own thing.
They reached the clearing and Thalia was pointing at different cabins, “That’s Apollo, that’s Ares…” she went on and on pointing out cabin after cabin. They finally stopped at one cabin at the very back of the cluster, it was brown the paint was peeling and it was slightly leaning to the left.
“This is cabin eleven, your new home until we find out who your godly parent is.” Thalia said, “The mess hall is over there on that hill, dinner is in about 25 minutes so until then you can explore camp and get used to it.”
With that she left leaving Justin staring at this dilapidated building.
“Hello?” Justin asked as he walked into the cabin.
“Hey, a newbie!” A guy yelled from a corner of the cabin, “I’m Jeb Hanson.”
The guy walked over to Justin, “Hey, I’m Justin Lewet. Apparently I’m staying here till we figure out who I belong to.” Justin said.
“Yeah all new people do unless they already know who their parent is.” Jeb said, “But lucky for you we have an open bunk.” He pointed to one of the top bunks on the left. “Go ahead and get settled in.”
“Thanks.” Justin said.
Justin climbed up on his bunk and laid there, wondering what other crazy stuff was going to happen to him.
Part 4
Justin must have dozed off when he climbed onto his bunk because the next the thing he knew there was a horn blowing off in the distance. He sat up and saw that the other kids from the cabin had lined up by the door and Jeb was at the front.
“Justin come on, it’s time for dinner!” Jeb said.
Justin climbed down and went to the back of the line,
once he was in line Jeb started
off for the mess hall. He noticed that the person in front of him was a girl and with a closer look he realized she was very pretty, almost as pretty as the one by the lake.
“Hey I’m Justin, the newbie.” Justin said leaning in so she could hear.
“I’m Jane Lewis.” She said looking back over her shoulder at him.
He noticed she had blonde hair that fell down to her shoulder and ice blue eyes, her eyes seemed to dance and she had a bright smile on her lips.
“So you’re a daughter of Hermes?” Justin asked.
“No, I’m unclaimed like you.” She said giving him another smile.
“Oh, how long have you been here?” He asked.
“Only a day, a satyr brought me here yesterday morning.” Jane said.
“Any idea who your godly parent is?” Justin asked her.
“I have some clues and guesses but I guess we’ll see for sure soon.” She said being mischievous.
With that they arrived at the mess hall and sat at their table in the big, roofless, pavilion. Dryads brought out food and gave it to everyone; as Justin looked around he saw everyone get up again with their plates of food. They made their way to a bronze brazier in the middle of the pavilion, lining up by cabin again.
“What is everyone doing?” Justin asked Jane as he followed everyone with his food.
“It’s an offering to the gods; unclaimed demigods like us can use it as a chance to ask our godly parent to claim us.” She told him.
Justin waited in line and soon enough he was the one up at the brazier.
“Umm, well I don’t know which gender my parent is.” Justin silently thought, trying to convey his thought to the gods, “Whoever you are, please claim me so I know.”
As he was walking back to his table the whole pavilion started to rumble and shake. Men rose from the ground, forming a circle around the pavilion. Justin looked closer at these men and he saw they weren’t actual living men; they were skeletons wearing Greek armor, and they had thin see through skin covering their bones. Above the brazier a man suddenly flashed into appearance and floated there suspended in mid-air.
“Hail Justin Lewet, son of Hades, and my son.” The man above the brazier yelled.
All around the skeletal warriors started to chatter, they saluted with their swords and stomped the ground with their feet. Just as suddenly as the clamor had started it stopped, and the skeletal men disappeared back into the earth. The man over the brazier gave a deep, gravely, laugh and disappeared into the darkness. Justin was left standing there with his food in his hands and the smell of decay and death in the air. Around him there was applause from all the campers as they realized who Justin was and what he was capable of.
“Well now we know where you belong, Justin.” Chiron said from the main table at the front of the pavilion.
Chiron walked around and led Justin to a table in the back that was empty, “This is your table now.”
Justin sat down still in a daze as to what happened. He looked around the pavilion and saw that everyone was looking at him with grim faces. He noticed a few also had jealousy and anger in their eyes.
“Great” Justin thought, “Now I’ve become the unpopular death kid.”
With that final thought he started eating, ignoring all the people staring at him. After dinner Justin went to the cabin appointed for the children of Death and went to sleep, not wanting to look at the other campers and the grim expressions he got from them.
“What a great first day of camp.” Justin thought right before he fell asleep.
Justin always considered himself handsome, he was tall, about 6 feet with black hair that he likes to style into a fohawk when he can, and he has black eyes.
